Walnut Creek Watershed Restoration Plan
The Walnut Creek Watershed Council, Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, and Contra Costa Resource Conservation District are working together to create a Watershed Restoration Plan for the Walnut Creek Watershed! The Walnut Creek Watershed Restoration Plan will identify restoration opportunities in and near creeks and wetlands to improve natural habitats for fish and wildlife, improve water quality, reduce fire risk, and minimize maintenance.
We invite you to participate in finding, defining, vetting, and prioritizing restoration opportunities to create a Watershed Restoration Plan that will help guide restoration activities in the watershed for the next 20-30 years. The completed Plan will be directly shared with our environmental resource agencies and will also be available for your use. As part of this effort, the Council and the creek stewardship groups within the Walnut Creek Watershed are working on a "Restoration Project Tracker," which is basically a list of ideas for potential restoration projects/sites. Be sure to revisit this web page for Plan updates. |
